Accessing Psychological Therapy Through Private Health Extras
WHICH PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIVATE HEALTH EXTRAS REBATES?
Private health extras typically provide rebates for psychology sessions with a registered psychologist and generally do not specify which concerns or challenges can be discussed, or which therapeutic approaches your psychologist may use.

ITEM CODE FOR PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE ENQUIRIES
When you contact your private health insurer, or request a rebate estimate through their app (if available), you may be asked to provide an item code. This code helps your insurer confirm any available benefits for Activ8 Mind psychology services.

What's the Difference Between
Private health extras and a medicare mental health care plan?
If eligible, Private Health Extras and Mental Health Care Plans (Medicare) may help reduce the cost of psychology sessions, but they work in different ways.

At Activ8 Mind, there is a gap fee to pay
Medicare provides rebates for telehealth appointments.
Medicare may provide rebates for up to 10 individual and group therapy sessions per calendar year.
Determining which option is right for you will depend on your circumstances, level of cover, eligibility, and personal preferences.
Please note that you cannot claim a Medicare rebate and a Private Health Extras benefit for the same psychology appointment. See our FAQs for more information on these two funding pathways.

We'll send you a booking confirmation via SMS and pre-appointment forms to complete before your first session.
attend your appointment
Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment, in case we need additional information. Your first session will focus on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and discussing your goals for therapy.
PAY + CLAIM your REBATE
After your session, we'll process payment. If your health fund offers on-the-spot rebates, we'll process this immediately and you'll only pay any applicable gap fee.
*Remember to bring your debit card if on-the-spot rebates are available- rebates cannot be returned via a credit card.
If your health fund requires you to claim rebates by uploading documentation to an app or via a customer portal, that is your responsibility and Activ8 Mind is unable to support you in doing this.
