About us
Our Approach to pbs
We take an ethical, empathic approach to supporting participants whose behaviours may be causing them distress, impacting their safety or wellbeing, affecting others around them, or limiting their ability to participate in activities that are important to them. We provide:
Person-centred, evidence-based strategies
We seek to understand the reasons behind a person’s behaviours of concern, recognising that all behaviour is a form of communication. We identify triggers and environmental and societal factors, and develop a personalised behaviour support plan that includes proactive and responsive strategies, along with progress measures to support people to achieve their personal goals.
Trauma-informed support
We recognise the impact trauma can have on a person’s mental health, behaviour and wellbeing. We use trauma‑informed assessment and intervention approaches that prioritise safety and minimise the risk of re‑traumatisation. Our practitioners focus on creating physically and emotionally safe environments, building trusting relationships with individuals and their support networks, and collaboratively introducing behaviour support strategies that align with a person’s goals and needs.
Collaboration with care teams, families, and informal supports
We know that collaboration is key to successful outcomes. We work closely with care teams, parents, family members, school staff, and informal supports, providing psychoeducation and personalised training / coaching. This enhances understanding and helps guide the consistent implementation of strategies.
neurodiversity-affirming support
We celebrate diverse ways of being and never seek to suppress neurodivergent traits with positive behaviour support. We do not support or encourage the restriction of self-regulating behaviours such as stimming, self-talk or use of fidget or sensory tools.
What to expect when working with us
How our positive behaviour support service works
After you have filled in the NDIS PBS referral form, and we have accepted your request, your practitioner/s will -

Step 1
Assess and create a positive behaviour support plan
Before making any changes, our practitioners will get to know the participant and conduct a functional behaviour assessment. From the findings of this assessment, they will create a bespoke behaviour support plan with individualised strategies to help them achieve their personal goals.

step 2
Implement strategies and collaborate with supports
After the positive behaviour support plan has been introduced, we begin working with the participant, helping them learn and adopt the recommended strategies. We also collaborate with their care team and relevant supports to explain the plan, provide psychoeducation, training and coaching.

step 3
Provide ongoing monitoring and support
We monitor the participant's progress and make changes to the plan if necessary. We provide support and guidance to the participant and their supports until goals are achieved. Once everyone involved is confident that our services are no longer needed, we fade the service out.

"Alicia has worked intelligently and professionally with my brother and his carers to enable them to respond well to situations and behaviours specific to his diagnoses and circumstances. Alicia’s conscientious approach is well reflected in her reports, clearly identifying the issues and achievable outcomes. Recommendation Reports
Pre-pbs assessments
If Improved Relationships funding has not been included in your NDIS plan but you, or someone on your support team, believe that PBS would be a good fit for your needs, we can:

COMPLETE A PRE-PBS FUNDING ASSESSMENT
This provides insight into your support needs and can include assessing behaviours of concern and restrictive practices (if they are present).

create a recommendation report
This report draws on the findings of the pre-PBS assessment to provide evidence of your needs to the NDIA*.
Please note that pre-PBS funding assessments are billed under Improved Daily Living and the recommendation report does not guarantee that PBS funding will be included in your next NDIS plan.
