What do our Melbourne-based PBS practitioners do? â€‹

Role responsibilities vary depending on experience and seniority level, but in general, our PBS practitioners -

  • Provide effective, evidence-based assessments, therapy, motivational and behavioural counselling to a range of clients

  • Conduct assessments to create behaviour support plans 

  • Develop customised strategies for individuals with disabilities which address their needs, reduce challenging behaviours and limit the use of restrictive practices

  • Collaborate with participants, their families, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and service providers to ensure behaviour support plans meet NDIS requirements.

  • Conduct psychometric, behavioural and other assessments

  • Provide psycho-cognitive education to clients

What qualifications do I need to become a PBS practitioner at Activ8 Mind?​

Professional qualifications and clinical experience may differ depending on seniority level; please ensure that you meet qualification criteria on a specific job ad. In general, a PBS practitioner at Activ8 Mind would have the following - ​

  • Relevant degree e.g.: Psychology /   Behavioural Science, Developmental Education, Special Ed, Social Work, Occupational Therapy

  • Interest / experience with adults & youth (we service 8-65).

  • Skills/ knowledge of some evidence-based therapies.

  • Good problem solving & verbal communication skills.

  • NDIS worker screening check (or eligible).

  • Working with Children Check (or eligible).

  • Own vehicle.

  • Growth mindset and agile.

  • Able to maintain highly professional conduct and positive work behaviours especially  in the areas of client communication and record keeping.

  • Provisional Psychologists should have AHPRA registration or be eligible under the 5+ 1 internship pathway.

  • Able to provide positive referees / references.​​
