Healthy Habits

April 2, 2019

Now that we’ve decided to create long-term, sustainable goals rather than short-term resolutions, it’s time to get to work on taking small steps towards making that change. To gain some insight into creating healthy habits we look to Pulitzer-prize winning reporter Charles Duhigg.

Charles is the author of Smarter Faster Better and The Power of Habit – books related to the science of productivity and the science of habit formation. He explains that all individuals and their habits are different. We are all unique, and our patterns of behaviour differ from person to person. So it makes sense, then, that our methods of change are different too. There isn’t one quick and easy way to achieve major change – it takes hard work. It takes determination. It takes resilience. And the journey is different from person to person, goal to goal.

We have learned from Charles Duhigg that each person’s habits are driven by different needs. Reducing overeating is different to quitting smoking cigarettes, which is different from getting yourself back into the workforce. If you’re ready to create healthy new habits to get you closer to your employment goals, or you’d like to hear more about Charles Duhigg’s framework for understanding habits, get in touch with one of our consultants at Activ8 Mind today.
